Piccolina Town is an annual week-long holiday program where elementary school children immerse themselves in their own vibrant, fictional town. Every day, we usually welcome over 100 enthusiastic kids excited to participate in the community.

Piccolina Town is built around a fully functioning economy. Here’s how it works: each young citizen receives a passport upon arrival and selects an open job from our job board. Jobs range widely—from creating town decorations to working in the film studio or helping out in the town's kitchen. Children are even encouraged to bring their own creative ideas to life and invent new jobs! For every hour they work, kids earn "Taler", Piccolina Town's own currency. With Talers, they can enjoy activities like watching movies in the cinema, visiting the beauty salon, or participating in unique events (like a tea ceremony or get something from a pop-up food stall). Even if a child chooses not to work a regular job, they can still craft something at various workshops to take home—or sell their handmade creations at the town market.

The week is full of exciting events, including the election of a mayor-duo by the citizens. Additionally, our film studio creates a short movie, culminating in a festive premiere for family and friends on the final day.

We are celebrating the 20th anniversary of Piccolina Town this year — hard to believe that I participated as a kid myself and have now already been co-leading the initiative for almost 10 years!
